Changing fashion trends in recent years

Changing fashion trends defines the large scale social and economic changes that are taking place in any society or country. One of the major shifts that fashion in India has seen in the last couple of decade has been its acceptance by middle class Indian in a big way. The fashion is no longer confined to the film fraternity or glamour models. The entry of ladies in the working force in big way also brought fashion in the office and corporate world. Another shift is use of traditional elements with modern elements to create something, which is stylish but comfortable for daily use.


Another major trend has been the spread of fashion to accessories of ladies such as bags, shoes, purses, belts and other such items. The fashion has also come in the designing of kids wear. The spread of television and growth of media, also contributed to the spread and awareness of fashion. The daily soaps took fashion to the common rooms and viewers. This increased the aspirations level of men and women to use latest designed accessories and dresses.

The designs are becoming simpler and affordable. The ethnic and traditional elements are widely used to design latest clothes and accessories.  The latest designed clothes are being used by ladies and gents on working days, corporate parties and family gathering. Earlier the trend was to wear something that was only for special occasion.

Current fashion designers are creating the latest designs on the preference and taste of the customers. The comfort of the clients is given special consideration. The materials used in designing clothes are comfortable under various weather conditions.  The younger fashion designers are catering to the taste of young customers with designs that reflect carefree nature and individuality of the customers.   


In the past most of the fashion was related to wedding dress and costumes during formal occasions. Now the fashion designers are catering to the individual desire to wear trendy for evening parties, formal yet comfortable wear for corporate parties, page 3 parties and even dress for weekends.
